Bismillahir Rahmaanir Raheem
Assalaamu ‘alaykum wa rahmatullaah wa barakaatuhu..
Ramadan Mubarak!
A little belated, we know.. in our defense, it has been a busy month at Maktabah this year, which is unusual.
Ramadan for us at Maktabah is our month of hibernation and reset. This year however, we saw a need within the community and couldn’t turn a blind eye.
It was a tough call for a couple of reasons:
Ramadan is a busy month, how do we manage?
Our Resident Maktabah Admin was going on leave, how do we manage?
We decided to do it anyway.
By Allaah’s Grace we were able to get volunteer Admins and do a serious division of labor to lighten the tasks. This decision is not without its setbacks because it has been a week thus far and the glitches have been many as we try to find our footing.
It is not perfect, but the team has been showing up as they are; sleep deprived, struggling with time difference, juggling work and studies and family — with minimal to zero training, managing a rigorous schedule.
They have been learning on the job and getting it done regardless, wa lillaahil hamd (and to Allaah belongs all praise). Please keep them in your du’aa.
We find solace in witnessing how the Qur’aan continues to mask the shortcomings and beautify our gatherings.
Allahumma ‘jalna min ahlil Qur’aan (O Allaah make us from the people of Qur’aan).
Our schedule, as I mentioned has been packed, with 4 days of Qur’aan class, 2 days of Tafseer sessions and 1 day dedicated to Community reflections and much needed weekly reset.
May Allaah accept from us and you, aameen.
Here are some benefits and resources from our first week at #MaktabahQC.
Both our Qur’aan Instructors recommended Sheikh Khalil al-Husary for active listening practice. His recitation is clear and moderately paced to help you improve your tajweed in practice.
Based on common mistakes we picked up in the makhaarij (articulation) of certain letters from the classes last week, we have compiled a playlist just for you.
🌸 Find it on youtube here.
The tafseer sessions were packed full of benefits, allaahumma baarik. Our community Scribes have done a beautiful job of taking notes of the benefits and key take aways from the sessions, please include sisters Rahila and Ameena in your du’aa.
From this week’s sessions, we compiled a list of the character of the bearers of the Qur’aan from Imam al-Ajurri book:

And that’s it for Week 1,
All good is from Allaah, and He is worthy of all Praise — all errors and mistakes are from us, and we ask His Forgiveness.
Please remember us in your du’aa,
Fatimah,
