RAMADAN WEEKLY
A weeekly newsletter on Tazkiyah in personal spiritual development
I contemplated doing this, because my new ‘Ramadan normal’ is to hibernate and refill my own cup. But in the past few weeks, a few things have reiterated the need to remind myself, and my community on the primacy of Tazkiyatun-Nafs [the purification of the soul/self/heart] in our quest for personal spiritual growth.
Sheikh Sālih Al-‘Osaimi [May Allah preserve him], in his book “Ta’dheem-ul ‘ilm” says;
“If you are shy that a created being like you should see your dirty clothes, then be shy of Allah looking at your heart while there is rancor, afflictions, sins and faults in it.”
The objective of this newsletter series is to enlighten us about the significance of tazkiyah, provide a few resources [from the Qur'aan & Sunnah] for our tazkiyah toolkit and suggest a few exercises [in accordance with the Qur’aan & Sunnah] to get us started.
WHY IN RAMADAN?
I believe Ramadan is the most ideal time for this undertaking for two reasons:
This is the month in which we are more committed to spiritual growth.
This is the month in which our nufūs are exposed to us. This is the month in which we really see ourselves since the devils are chained, we see the fault lines and dents that need fixing.
So, for 5 weeks in shaa Allah, once each week, you will receive a newsletter in your email which will include:
A hadith on Tazkiyah
A du’aa on or related to the heart and/or Tazkiyah from the Sunnah
A tip, prompt, exercise or action point to help you begin the work
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
Sincere intentions
Du’aa — because all good is only attained by the help of Allah
